Can you really build muscle with bands? Well, and I am going to show you how. Keep the concepts I am going to give you in mind because it will help you build muscle using only bands at home. Let’s get started with the tips for how to use resistance bands to build muscle.

YOU CAN WORK YOUR ENTIRE BODY WITH RESISTANCE BANDS. I would say that the hardest muscle group in your body to work with resistance bands is your legs. You will be surprised though as to how many exercises you can do to work all muscle groups. Bands are convenient, so there is no excuse to not workout, even if you are travelling.

Tip #1: PICKING THE CORRECT RESISTANCE. You need to experiment with the bands you are using. You want to make sure that if you are doing 10 reps in a set, you want to struggle towards the 10th rep in the set. Make sure to write down the bands you use for each exercise to track your progression as you go. You want to make sure you are using enough resistance to build muscle.

Tip #2: HAVING GOOD FORM. I think it is more important to utilize good form with bands than if you were to use dumbbells. It can be easy to cheat when using bands, so make sure to have slow controlled movements and control the bands throughout the whole range of motion.

Tip #3: PRETENSION ON THE BANDS. You want to make sure that before you even start your first rep, you already have the bands loaded with resistance. You don’t want the bands to be loose when you start your exercise, put tension on the bands to have resistance right at the start. Tip #4: YOU MUST KEEP INTENSITY. It can be easy to just go through the motions when you are using resistance bands. Make sure to motivate yourself to ramp up the intensity to get more out of your band workout and build your muscle. Avoid the distractions and focus on your workout to build muscle at home.

Tip #5: INCREASE THE VOLUME. If you need to increase more reps and sets for a certain muscle group, or if you need to work certain muscles more often to build muscle with bands, do it! Especially legs being such a large muscle group, you will need to work them more and harder than other muscle groups.
